Considering what you have learned about social structure and structural inequalities (gender, race, and social class), write a sociological explanation of why something like what happened (and is still happening) in Ferguson, Missouri, is not especially surprising. Include an explanation of why the shooting of Michael Brown is not surprising in this context and why the protests and police response to those protests are also not surprising. You MUST demonstrate your sociological thinking. The shooting was not an interaction between two individuals and the protests that have followed are not an isolated event unique to this particular town.
