Doing a short paper evaluating moral status (and theory involved ) of 4 peoples opinions on what to do about a disabled fetus, about 6 months, no arms,..its a poor immigrant couple just getting on their feet considering their difficult lives and bringing up a 1st child with a major disability (she is torn between hopes for a better life and belief that all life is sacred, he is with her, but leaning more towards considering the negative impact on their life ., their religious mom who’s calling the priest and won’t consider abortion, and the pragmatic doctor who is recommending the fetus be aborted.
What moral status theory are they each working from. Supposed to get moral status theory names from Khan academy video on moral status that outlines Descartes rationality, so humans have moral status, Singer, that specism is wrong and sentient ( anything feeling pain and pleasure) should have moral status, or all life has moral status. There are a few other theories not in the video Im told. Question for you is are there actually names to the various theories of moral status, including the three mentioned in the video. I would also take any help with what theory each are of the characters are operating out of if you think you know from what I’ve given. Quick answers are fine to get me going, or feel free to elaborate…Thanks! if you need any additional info I’ll be around ….looking for something fairly quickly. Thanks This is actually a nursing spirituality class, but the module is on morale status and the theories involved.
