The crime scene investigation
discipline has received much media attention in the form of several television
shows. The most popular show, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, provides an
interesting perspective on the job functions of an investigator (or technician).
For this assignment, you will view an episode of the popular television series
and provide commentary, answering several questions.
The first requirement is to view
the episode. You can view an archived episode on the CBS website, Hulu.com, or
another television archive site. Be aware that you may be required to install
software such as RealPlayer, Windows Media Player, or a browser plug-in.
Next, include the following
information regarding the episode you selected at the beginning of your opinion
paper: Episode title, season no., episode no., and episode length (in minutes,
e.g., 39:00).
Once you have viewed the episode,
answer the following questions in a 3-4 page opinion paper:
•What do you believe was
showcased as a legitimate way of working/processing a crime scene?
•What do you believe was
showcased as a crime scene investigation technique that may have been
fabricated for entertainment purposes?
•Which crime scene personnel were
needed for the crime scene, and what was their function/purpose?
•Based on the module reading,
list up to five (5) items of evidence you identified from the case being solved
and why these particular items were important to the case.
